The German Library Association (dbv) welcomes the increase in the federal budget for culture and media to 2.29 billion euros. Particularly pleasing for libraries is the continuation of the "Knowledge Transformation" program as part of "Neustart Kultur" to support libraries and archives in their digital transformation. So far, almost 740 institutions have been supported with a total of 24.8 million euros. The dbv calls on politicians to create a legal basis for the lending of e-books by libraries and to introduce a nationwide regulation for Sunday opening hours.
