Abstract

Based on waste poplar sawdust (YWC) and bentonite (BT), acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) were used as monomers. Potassium sulfate (KPS) was used as initiator and N-N methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) was used as cross-linking agent. The poplar-bentonite environment-friendly composite was prepared by solution polymerization method. The effect of monomer ratio, neutralization degree, initiator dosage, crosslinking agent dosage, bentonite dosage and other factors on the performance of the resin was investigated, and a comparison was obtained. The optimal monomer ratio is m(YWC) : m(AA) : m(AMPS) : m(KPS) : m(MBA) : m(BT)=2.0.5.0.0.4.0.0.04.0.012.012. When the degree of neutralization is 65%, the obtained water absorption ratio is 539.5 g·g.-1, the suction rate of normal saline is 45.3 g·g -1 super absorbent resin. Using infrared Spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis were used to characterize the resin, and to evaluate the pH sensitivity, swelling kinetics, and recyclability of the resin. The results show that the swelling process of the resin conforms to the second-order kinetic model, and has the characteristics of high mechanical strength and excellent cycle performance.
