Abstract

The book has evolved and been adapted from Haddon's earlier book "Modelling and Quantitative Methods in Fisheries" (Haddon [1], [2]) and the code used in the book is available in the R package MQMF, which is available on CRAN. For example, the introduction to MCMC methods first claims it stands for Markov Chain Monte Carlo, which is correct, but then the book suggests that Monte Carlo Markov Chain is also used and that this is a more intuitive way. Although, the "Static Models" chapter does an excellent good job of demonstrating the methods described in the fitting parameters chapter, I would have liked the methods in the uncertainty chapter to also be demonstrated on these models.
