Abstract
- This article proposes a new hybrid-excited partitioned stator flux modulated machine with a dual-permanent magnet (HE-PSFMDPMM). The HE-PSFMDPMM employs consequent-pole (CP) permanent magnets (PMs) on the inner stator and Halbach array CP PMs on the rotor, which can yield abundant air-gap flux density working harmonics to increase the torque capability. Meanwhile, the field windings are housed in the inner stator to achieve flux weakening. The topology, working principle, and design optimization of HE-PSFMDPMM are investigated, respectively. The electromagnetic performances of HE-PSFMDPMM are analyzed and compared with that of a contrast model with conventional CP PMs on the rotor. The results indicate that by using dual-PM excitation, HE-PSFMDPMM can provide large flux linkage, high torque production with low torque ripple, and high efficiency. Meanwhile, a good flux weakening capability is obtained with the aid of direct current (dc) excitation. Moreover, compared with the contrast model, the proposed HE-PSFMDPMM with Halbach array CP PMs on the rotor can offer the merits of lower cogging torque and torque ripple, higher power factor, and better flux weakening capability.
