Abstract

The article titled "Challenges for the construction of the plurinational State in Latin America" analyzes the theme of sociocultural plurality in Latin America and its impact on legal and constitutional reforms of the states. The relationship between the political activism of peoples promoting self-determination and international organizations is discussed, as well as the difference between the multicultural nation-state and the multicultural State. The topic of colonialism is also addressed, and the idea of interculturality is proposed as a change in relationships and a dialogue of equals in the respect for cultural differences. The article raises questions about the plurinational State project and the principles that contribute to the emancipation of peoples. Examples of Bolivia, Ecuador, and Venezuela are mentioned as countries that have made progress in redefining institutions towards the plurinational State. The article also addresses the issue of collective land and territory rights of indigenous peoples, highlighting the importance of distinguishing them from political rights. The article concludes by reflecting on the need to discern which modalities of social construction lay the foundations for good living. [Extracted from the article]
