Abstract

The commentary recurs to the contributions of the present issue and contextualizes them with fundamental developments in recent educational research. Their legitimacy is beyond question, but is complicated by the problem of defining the subject matter. For this in the context of the contributions solutions are discussed. Furthermore, current theoretical approaches are discussed, but also deficits, especially in the field of empirical reception research. It is assumed that these are also theoretically conditioned. Against this background, the pedagogical and the educational science as well as the terms education and counseling are discussed. As a result, a case is made for a systematic combination of primarily text-based guide research with empirical reception research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
