Abstract

The article reports on how China's zero Covid-19 policy is adversely affecting China's gross domestic product (GDP). The policy includes lockdowns and mass quarantines. Also cited are how the economic decline is putting political pressure to the ruling Communist Party, how the policy is causing social and economic instability, and the National Bureau of Statistics data showing a 0.4% increase in China's economy in the second quarter of 2022.
