TECHNOLOGY SURVEY: A SAMPLING OF AIRBORNE RWRS AND RADAR ESM SYSTEMS.

The article focuses on the survey of radar warning receivers (RWRs) and radar electronic support measures (RESM) systems, used in airborne applications. Topics discussed include the use of RWRs in the European theater, during World War II, to the introduction of radars installed on British and German night fighters; the ability of the radars to guide surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) and air-to-air missiles (AAMs) by the mid-1950s; and the advent of digital receiver technology in RWRs.
