Abstract

The objective which guided the investigation reported in this paper was to verify how the orthography accuracy of liquid consonants would depend on the positions that such consonants can occupy in the structure of the syllable and/or on the school grade. The data was extracted from 193 written productions made by 67 children from the Cycle of Literacy of Primary School. The analysis has shown that the orthography based on the investigation of the syllabic characteristic was partial, once not all the aspects of the syllabic organization were present, in a mirrored form, in this orthography. The analysis has also shown that the orthography is a result of interactions between syllabic aspects, pedagogical practices and schooling grade, and not exclusively of only one of these aspects. Therefore, it is important to highlight the establishment of non-direct relations between speaking and children's writing when referring to orthography. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
