Abstract

This research aimed at studying if there were differences in personality traits (positive and pathological) between healthy and unhealthy employees that were classified in those groups regarding job (performance and satisfaction) and mental health (psychological symptoms and well-being) variables. Also, it sought to test a model of performance and job satisfaction where mental health variables mediated between personality traits and job variables. Participants were 340 Argentinean employees with a mean age of 34,93 years old (SE = 11,35), 58,8% female and 41,2% male. This study used an innovative measure (ICCP-SF; de la Iglesia & Castro Solano, 2021) to assess positive and pathological traits. Results confirmed that the presence of positive personality traits (mainly, Sprightliness) prevailed in healthy employees and that unhealthy employees were characterized mostly by pathological personality traits. Also, the explicative model of performance and job satisfaction showed a good fit. Implications regarding the assessment of these personality traits in job environments are discussed.
