The theological dialogue between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches currently focuses on Ecclesiology, but not two, but three Ecclesiologies are confronted in it, since in Orthodoxy today there is not full concordance of ecclesiological views between Constantinople and Moscow. While between Rome and Constantinople, with the cancellation of the excommunications of 1054, «theological love» was re-established in 1965 – one of the two requisites, alongside the perfect coincidence in faith, for full ecclesial communion – in 2019, with granting autocephaly by the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the Ukrainian Church, Moscow’s «theological love» for Constantinople has ceased, while full coincidence in faith remains. For this reason, the current non-communion of the two Orthodox Patriarchal Churches reproduces in a similar way, albeit specularly different, that existing for centuries between the two Rome.
