Abstract

Uterine prolapse is a rare condition in female dogs, defined by the eversion and protrusion of a portion of the uterus through the cervix into the vagina during or days after delivery, associated with excessive force and is considered an emergency. Treatment takes place by assessing the viability of the prolapsed uterus. Thus, this study aims to describe a case of uterine prolapse in a female dog, identified in the city of Imperatriz - MA, as well as the therapeutic-surgical approach adopted and its proficiency, since there is little information reported about this condition, where immediate care of uterine prolapse proved to be essential for a favorable prognosis, and the realization of ovariohysterectomy (OVH) presented itself as an efficient method for treatment.
