Abstract
- In this paper, the design and manufacturing process of axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) generators using rectangular neodymium ferrite boron (NdFeB) magnets are described to reduce magnet costs. Experimental studies are carried out by measuring the output voltage based on the design that has been made. The process of making a generator is made by varying the magnetic bars parallel and layered. Emphasis is placed on using commercially available rectangular magnetic teeth with simple techniques to achieve lower costs, while the fabrication steps in the manufacturing process are described in more detail. The design and prototype of the built AFPM generator are laboratories tested. The experimental study results obtained by the number of stator windings as many as 324 turns with an arrangement of 4 rectangular magnetic layers obtained an output voltage of 13.1 Volt at 1400 rpm. In addition, the structure of the generator design is simple and easy to manufacture and is suitable for rural applications for small-scale energy turbine applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
