Abstract

Pure Copper oxide (CuO) and different mol% Manganese (Mn) substituted CuO nanoparticles were produced utilizing the chemical precipitation technique using copper chloride and sodium hydroxide. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and Energy dispersive X-ray (EDAX) spectroscopy were used to analyze the crystallite size, functional groups and elemental composition of the synthesized samples. The average crystallite size was derived from XRD data. The results show that the crystalline size of Mn doped CuO reduced as compared to the pure CuO. The XRD patterns showed that the prepared CuO samples exhibits monoclinic crystalline structure. The SEM image suggested that the particles are more agglomerated with the addition of Mn in CuO. The composition of elements present in the sample was investigated by EDAX analysis. The bands at different modes are observed by the FTIR spectrum. Antimicrobial activity taken against E.Coli and Streptococcus oralis and zone of inhibition was observed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
