Abstract

With Rapid growth in field of power electronics for power systems applications, the usage of converters and power electronics devices in transmission and distribution lines have been increased. Usage of such semiconductor devices for switching applications introduces harmonics and noise in the sinusoidal signal which then alters the frequency of signal and as far as we are concerned with the safety and protection, it is important to know the frequency of the signal which is required in case of grid synchronizations and circuit breaking operations, So it is quite essential to find the zero crossing points. We have employed decision trees algorithm for predicting the ZC points since it has shown higher accuracy and predictivity than other classifier techniques such as Support vector machine.
