Suicidal behavior is a priority objective of research and intervention in the world, because this public health problem generate consequences in the mental health of individuals, families and communities. Suicide prevention requires strengthening from the scientific knowledge of risk factors, which has been complex due to its etiological heterogeneity. However these limitations, contemporary explanatory models show the contribution of research in cognitive neuroscience, because they have allowed to elucidate promising findings for the study of neurocognitive markers of suicidal vulnerability.
