Abstract

The article is about the importance of strengthening Primary Care (PC) in the healthcare system. It mentions that PC professionals have experienced burnout and criticism. Evidence is presented that strengthening PC increases life expectancy and reduces mortality. Additionally, the lack of PC doctors in low-density population areas is highlighted, and it is shown that regular contact with the same general practitioner decreases the use of services outside regular hours, hospitalizations, and mortality. The relationship between the continuity of primary health care (PHC) in Catalonia and the organization of PC centers and the sociodemographic characteristics of patients is also analyzed. An inverse correlation between immediate attention and continuity was found. On the other hand, a review is presented on the understanding of the concepts of overuse and overdiagnosis in medical care, showing that it is difficult for most people to understand these concepts. Finally, summaries of three different articles are presented: one on the interpretation of the concepts of overuse and overdiagnosis in health, another on the importance of primary care after the COVID-19 pandemic, and another on the role of anger in medical leadership.
