Abstract

In this paper, the effect of the discharge gap on the arc characteristics of sheet tungsten electrode under vertical sidewall anode configuration is discussed. By changing the horizontal discharge gap and vertical discharge gap, the temperature distribution, current density distribution, flow field distribution, pressure distribution, and viscosity distribution of non-axisymmetric arc are calculated. From the point of view of the change of current density distribution caused by the change of discharge gap, the influence of Joule heat on the temperature distribution is analyzed, and the influence of cathode jet behavior on the arc temperature field is further analyzed. At the same time, the factors such as viscosity force and shear force above anode are also considered. At the same time, the experimental verification is carried out through the arc pressure and arc grayscale image. The importance of the discharge gap on the arc characteristics of sheet tungsten electrode under vertical sidewall anode configuration is emphasized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
