Abstract

In this study, unit commitment problem was investigated on the grid model of a real electricity distribution grid created in the DIgSILENT PowerFactory (PF) program. In this context, the deterministic approach of the mathematical formulation unit commitment problem used in the PF program was introduced. The electricity distribution grid of Kahramanmaraş province was modeled on PF and a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant (PHPP) was integrated into this modeling. The working logic of PHPP is based on the fact that it can be used to store or sell energy according to changes in electrical energy prices. With this model, while the power plant is expected to supply the peak load demands of the consumers in the grid, it was also aimed to gain economic profit by taking advantage of the price changes in the electricity markets. Modeling and analysis studies in line with these targets concluded that energy storage technologies, which use high power effectively, are beneficial both technically and economically.
