Latest research on consciousness brings good arguments for abandoning the Cartesian proposal --without undermining its fair appreciation--: existence and, with it, reality, need to be founded beyond own thought. Asking about consciousness, even as a rational mandate, implies asking, in turn, about community, that scope that is made possible by communication, symbolic networks or language. Roger Bartra offers a suggestive approach in this regard in his most recent work, Chamanes y robots. However, contrary to Bartra supposes, there are still several questions to be resolved before to establish both the most intimate properties and the causalities of consciousness.
