Abstract

The main challenges in the conversion of a paper-grade pulp and producing dissolving-grade pulp are the selective removal of hemicelluloses and the high pulp reactivity ([13]; [24]; Kopck 2010; [25]; [33]). Dissolving pulps are chemically refined bleached pulps that exhibit high cellulose content (over 90%) with advantageous properties such as high purity, high brightness, uniform molecular mass distribution and high cellulose reactivity, which represents a significant niche in the pulp industry ([24]; [25]; [26]; [35]; [43]).
