Abstract

The article titled "MODERN SLAVERY: AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL ISSUE?" presents a dossier from the Canadian journal Antropologie et Societés that addresses the topic of modern slavery. The objective of the dossier is to contribute to the field of studies on contemporary slavery and clarify the debate between committed positions and those that denounce the political use of the metaphor of past slavery. Three elements are highlighted to understand contemporary situations of servitude and slavery: a global moral economy, a neoliberal political economy, and a postcolonial context. The article also mentions the efforts of various social actors and governments to denounce and combat modern slavery. [Extracted from the article]
