Abstract

Addisonian-like acrofacial hyperpigmentation following long-term hydroxychloroquine therapy in oral lichen planus. Based on distinctive clinical features, temporal association with intake of cyclosporine, and ruling out other obvious causes of hyperpigmentation, a diagnosis of cyclosporine-induced cutaneous hyperpigmentation was established. Dear Editor, Cyclosporine, a calcineurin inhibitor, is being increasingly used as an immunosuppressant for prophylaxis in organ transplantation and various immune regulatory disorders involving dermatological, hematological, renal, gastroenterological, neurological, and musculoskeletal systems.1 Here we describe a rarely documented side effect, cutaneous hyperpigmentation, following treatment with cyclosporine.
