Abstract
- The inventory of the Cuban lycophytes and ferns, and for each of the 605 taxa, their correct name and the synonymy used, as well as the distribution per provinces and their state of conservation are presented. The best represented families are Dryopteridaceae, Pteridaceae, Thelypteridaceae, Polypodiaceae and Hymenophyllaceae. The highest concentration of taxa occurs in the eastern provinces, which include the most prominent mountain systems. A total of 92 endemic taxa are considered, which represents 15.2 % of those present in Cuba. The greatest floristic affinity relationships are established with Hispaniola and Jamaica, the high endemism of pteridophytes being notable for the Greater Antilles. The values of threatened species proposed per categories are 215 Critically Endangered, 105 Endangered and 24 Vulnerable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
