Análise Sobre o Risco de Falência em Usinas Sucroenergéticas do Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul.

The sugarcane ethanol industry is relevant to the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, since in the cities where the plants are installed, on average, their development and per capita income indicators showed an increase of approximately 20%, as well as considerable population growth, among other benefits. Realizing the relevance of the industry for the region, we sought to analyze the following research question "Are the sugar and ethanol plants in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul showing signs of bankruptcy in the coming periods?". To address the question, three tools were used to signal the risk of bankruptcy, based on the organization's solvency: Kanitz (1974), Elizabetsky (1976) and Sanvicente e Minardi (1998). The research result indicates that the analyzed companies are in an alert situation related to their solvency, according to the tools of Elizabetsky (1976) and Sanvicente and Minardi (1998). The study also allowed us to identify structural problems related to the Kanitz (1974), due to basic mathematical principles ends up distorting the results of the tool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
