Abstract

This article proposes to carry out a perspective analysis of changes in the 2017 Labor Reform in the work relations of teachers in private higher education institutions, presenting qualitative data from field research and document analysis. For the development of this analysis, the theoretical framework presents some changes in private higher education in Brazil, bringing the commodification and internationalization of education as relevant points for understanding the current scenario. A description of the main changes in labor legislation from 1990 to 2017 was also presented, so that one could understand the evolution or setback of labor legislation, also presenting new forms of work such as the more recently called "Uberization" in education. A qualitative research was carried out, using semi-structured interviews, investigating the views of teachers, managers and union representatives. Based on the analysis of the literature and data collected from the interviews, it was found that the changes brought about by the labor reform boosted and boosted new forms of work in the educational market. However, such innovations, while making hiring more flexible and speeding up the growth of HEIs, in the view of the professors, bring with them an increase in the precariousness of work and a loss of quality in teaching.
