Abstract

The primary objective of this research study is to determine the effectiveness of measuring water quality in the Chambo River during an experiential educational program. The approach is quantitative and the methodological design is quasi-experimental. Water quality is measured by using the standard method APHAAWWA-WEF. The participants included 27 agronomy students and 16 farmers who had crops by the Chambo River. All the participants (43 people) were randomly assigned to an experimental group (G1) and a control group (G2), with pre-test (G1PRETES; G2PRETES) and post-test (G1POSTEST; G2POSTEST). The results show a bilateral significance (0.019) for the experimental group (G1POSTEST) while the rest of the groups remained at zero. It is concluded that water quality is a complex issue that must be approached from a multidimensional dimension (holistically) to better understand the social-economic mobility aspect of water as it is a fundamental axis for improving people’s quality of life.
