Local News Coverage of the Black Panther Party: An Analysis of the Baltimore, Cleveland, and New Orleans Press.

This paper examines the press coverage of the Black Panther Party. A qualitative analysis of five newspapers was conducted comparing the Baltimore, Cleveland, and New Orleans press. The press did not treat the Panthers with "kid gloves." While the Panthers received a fair hearing in the Cleveland press, the way the group was covered by the Baltimore and New Orleans press left something to be desired. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
