Abstract

This article presents an account of the experience of the academic trajectory of a trans and black woman and aims to examine the challenges of inclusion and permanence experienced within the academic space. This paper does not aim to affirm that all trans and black women undergo the same situations, but rather to reflect on how these experiences can act as mechanisms of oppression, resulting, for the trans woman, in feelings of weakness and discouragement. My research is largely based on selfethnography, understood here as a writing method which allows to study researcher's personal experience, opposing the hegemonic discourses that exclude the experiences of self, and stands in the perspective of objectresearcher, and still keeping the distancing between them.
