Abstract

The article "The Disappearance of People in the Context of Gender Violence during the Covid-19 Pandemic" analyzes the psychological implications of the pandemic on vulnerable groups, such as people without economic resources, people with disabilities, elderly individuals living alone, people with pre-existing psychopathology, and people experiencing domestic or gender violence. In Spain, there are 4,685 active reports of disappearances, and it is estimated that a significant percentage is related to gender violence. The United Nations predicts an increase in cases of physical and sexual violence against women and girls due to the crisis generated by Covid-19. The Working Group on Psychological Intervention in Disappearances (GIPD) is composed of psychology professionals specialized in different areas, and its objective is to establish appropriate guidelines for psychological intervention in cases of missing persons. In the current context of the pandemic and gender violence, it is necessary to develop resources that allow for quick and coordinated responses to obtain favorable resolutions in the first hours. It is important to widely disseminate these resources in order to address the problem optimally. [Extracted from the article]
