The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on libraries is possibly the most important event in recent years. The aim of this paper is to analyze the thoughts in the professional field of libraries (especially within public libraries) prior to and during the pandemic, and to provide an outline of the responses and the impact on library services. The paper wraps up with an overview of the initial situation and how the public libraries of Galicia reacted.
