Abstract

Polysulfone (PSU) is a suitable material for industrial gas separation. In the present study, it was possible to produce PSU flat membranes with a porous support structure and a separating top layer in the micrometer range in one step using special casting solutions and the dry/wet phase inversion process. By varying the composition of the casting solution and the precipitant, the characteristics of the individual PSU layers was varied. Scanning electron microscope images were taken to demonstrate the layer structures of the PSU flat membranes. The gas separation properties (permeabilities and ideal selectivities) were characterized by gas permeation measurements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
