El tratamiento de las unidades fraseológicas en el aula de ele: análisis de manuales y propuesta didáctica.

Abstract

Phraseology and phraseodidactics are two recently emerging linguistic disciplines that are rapidly developing due to the need of knowing the phraseological units (PUs) function, in addition to their teaching. It is crucial that Spanish as a foreign language (EFL) student know these expressions characterized by their fixation, so that they are able to develop their communicative competence, as native speakers are constantly using them in both oral and written texts. With the aim of knowing the relevance given to these units in the EFL teaching and how they are managed, we have analysed a total of fifteen manuals. As a result, we have observed that lexical acquisition is still determined by learning univerbal units, while phraseologisms are minimally included. To cope with this situation and solve the observed deficiencies, we have designed a didactic proposal based on a communicative approach. We defend that the teaching of PUs should be adapted according to the students' requirements, their foregoing knowledge, and the type of the phraseologism. Likewise, we pursue an equilibrium between metalinguistic reflexion (which allows the correct formal and conceptual understanding and assimilation of the PU) and its practice (in such a manner that students acquire enough knowledge to utilize it in the adequate context and manage to preserve it in their longterm memory).
