Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the formation of the elite from the classic - cultural and identity form to the hybrid ethos and professional form. The focus was on the political elite as a segment structurally and functionally separated from the intelligentsia. The roles, attributes and determinants of changes in the area of power and leadership were indicated in order to stimulate reflection on the need for synergy between the logos of the elites and the ethos of the masses. The thesis was confirmed that the political elite, after winning the elections, are largely motivated by their own interests and tend to apply a strategy of legitimizing and prolonging power. It was emphasized that nowadays one can rather speak of post-intellectual elites competing with each other after 1989, which most often build liberal or conservative models of political culture, based on an unclear system of norms and values. This indicates that the elite are strongly divided, poorly integrated internally and externally, present a corporate character and are still a poorly explored area located on the border of sociology, psychology, political science and intellectual history, which contains narratives focused mainly on the analysis of theoretical concepts from attempts to relate them to historical and present conditions and contexts.
