Bald cypress and swamp tupelo, both large trees with buttressed bases, are the impressive dominant trees, accompanied by red maple and swamp laurel oak. Trees in the canopy include laurel oak, swamp tupelo, sweet bay, red maple, American elm, cabbage palm, and extremely large and old live oaks.
