Abstract

The only faculty rank difference that reached statistical significance was at the assistant professor level. The study [[1]] of 1703 academic gastroenterologists shows that there is little difference between the I h i -indices of men and women faculty per rank. Together, these biases compound to unfairly reduce the I h i -index ratings of women; thus, in the study by John [[1]], the women may have outscored the men if the effects of gender bias were removed.
