Abstract

In the article, the authors discuss the evolution of clinical trials from the use of papyrus to technology-driven data collection solutions. Other topics include the need to ensure data quality and integrity (DQI), the need for the pharmaceutical industry and regulators to refrain from using paper-based processes as gold standards, and the claim that the first clinical trial was conducted by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon as recorded in the Bible book of Daniel.
