Emotional intelligence is a critical component of an efficient management style. The managers with emotional intelligence have the ability to perceive, understand and manage both their own and their subordinates' emotions. The managers, who can successfully analyze the members of organizations by these emotional intelligence abilities, can determine what is the most effective management style for organizations. Based on this, the purpose of this research was to identify the relationship between hotel managers' emotional intelligence levels and their management styles in hotel enterprises. The questionnaire, used as the data collection technique in this study, was administered to 251 managers, working in 23 different 4-5 star hotels operating in the provinces of Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Mardin and Adana, which constituted the sample group. The obtained data suggested that the emotional intelligence levels of the hotel managers were above intermediate level, and they showed more democratic-participative management style. In addition, the emotional intelligence and management styles of the managers differed significantly according to gender, educational background and management level. The results of the study also showed that as the emotional intelligence increased, autocratic management style was adopted more. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
