Abstract
- The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which music teacher candidates perceive, implement, and reflect the musical learning strategies they use and how these strategies differ in terms of gender, grade level, high school type and university variables. This research is a field study in descriptive quality. The sample of the research consists of 360 music teacher candidates, studying in the year 2015-2016 in seven universities located in seven different regions. In the analysis of the obtained data, t-test was applied to determine whether there is a meaningful difference in music learning strategies of music teacher candidates according to the high school type they graduated from, their grade levels and gender. An ANOVA test was used to determine whether there wereany differences among the students studying at the music departments of different universities. Relevant data were collected by using the "Music Learning Strategies Scale" developed by Kocabaş (2003). According to the findings of the research, it is found that the music learning strategies of university students vary according to their gender, type of the high school they graduated from, the university they attend and their grade levels.
