The self-sufficiency with vegetables, fruits and herbs is enjoying increasing popularity. House and allotment gardens, balconies, streets and parks become space for experimentation for new ways of producing and choosing plants. An important aspect of the development of urban agriculture is to learn to estimate the amount that is produced in the city by non-professional gardeners in terms of the city's food needs.
