- Examines the efforts to prevent accidents at railroad crossings in the U.S. Problems caused by malfunctioning safety signals and gates along railroad tracks; Frequency of accidents in which trains collide with pedestrians and vehicles; Policies of the Federal Railroad Administration which govern safety equipment and the response to accidents; Efforts of the Administration to monitor signal operation and safety procedures.
