Abstract

The article focuses on the identification of the angelfish, Pomacanthus semicirculatus aquareovirus as a member of aquareovirus genogroup A using RNA-RNA blot hybridization. Aquareoviruses are a new group of viruses in the family Reoviridae. Although aquareoviruses have been isolated from many different fish, shellfish and crustacean species, only in a few cases have they been associated with clinical disease. In the study, the relative mobility of the dsRNA segments of the 19 aquareoviruses was used to distinguish individual strains.
