Abstract

The mastery of discourse genres develops with the very use and learning of language, not least because we develop our linguistic-discursive skills in situations of social practice, which determine the topics we talk about and their compositional and stylistic configuration. A similar development can be seen in the use of discourse genres in social networks. Young people, especially digital natives, having grown up and developed in intimacy with interaction technologies, have internalized that in order to deal with certain topics, in certain contexts and situations, they need to talk, even if they write. This means that, in social networks, certain interaction contexts demand genres that, although written, are constitutively oral. Orality is thus conceived as a trait that can be common to both expressions, speech and writing. In this paper we will try to conceptualize and characterize this orality in social networks. We will discuss, in this sense, the notion of constitutive orality; we will sustain this notion based on enunciation fundamentals; and we will transfer it to the characterization of Internet interactions. Finally, we will show the emergence of this orality in the discursive space of Facebook. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
