Abstract
- The objective of this study is to reveal the honey consumption preferences of consumers in Erzurum and their consumption of other bee products. In this study, a survey was conducted with 400 people living in Erzurum. Descriptive statistics and frequency tables were created with the data obtained from the survey results and factors affecting honey consumption were determined by multivariate regression analysis. Honey consumption, which is dependent variable, affected by the education level of the consumers, the number of children in the family, the presence of honey-producing relatives or acquaintances and the income level. Honey consumption increases if consumers graduate from a higher education level. Honey consumption increases as the number of children in the family increases. Increasing income also increases honey consumption positively. In addition, the frequency consumption of filtered honey and honeycomb honey affects the consumption of honey. The percentage explanation of variability in honey consumption of the created model was 84.80% and the model was significant according to the analysis of variance (Anova). As a result of the study, it was determined that the domestic beekeeping sector could be revitalized by encouraging domestic consumption, and that educating consumers about the importance of honey consumption for a healthy life would also contribute to the treatment of honey consumption.
