Abstract

The experiment was to investigate the effect of different dietary carbohydrate ratios on ruminal fermentation parameters and serum biochemical index in Liaoning cashmere goats. Fifteen Liaoning cashmere goats with similar body condition, body weight (52.5±2.1) kg and permanent rumen fistula were randomly divided into five groups with three replicates in each group. The goats were fed with SC/NSC of 0.85, 1.05, 1.28, 1.56 and 1.96, respectively. The experimental period lasted for 25 d. The results showed that with the increase of SC/NSC ratios, ruminal fluid pH value increased significantly (P<0.05). The pH value of 0.85 group was significantly lower than that of 1.28 group, 1.59 group and 1.96 group (P<0.05), and pH value of 1.05 group was significantly lower than that of 1.96 group (P<0.05). The concentration of NH3-N in 0.85 group and 1.05 group were significantly higher than that in other groups (P<0.05). With the increase of SC/NSC ratio in diets, VFA concentrations decreased, and the content of acetic acid increased in rumen fluid. The experiment indicates that with the increase of dietary SC/NSC ratios, ruminal pH value and the content of acetic acid increased, VFA and NH3-N concentrations decreased, and low SC/NSC ratio was beneficial to improve carbohydrate utilization efficiency.
