Abstract

Histopathology differentiates TV from EDV, as TV would be expected to demonstrate hyphae and spores in the stratum corneum.1,2 Flat warts can have a similar clinical and histologic appearance to EDV. A 11-year-old girl with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was evaluated by pediatric dermatology for the evaluation of a chronic rash present for at least 5 years. Clinicopathologic correlation with examination and histology findings in the setting of HIV infection favored a diagnosis of EDV. [Extracted from the article]
