The article reflects on the incursion of Brazilian RAP artists in the samba. Describes how this phenomenon is updated in different works until culminating in a fully dedicated album to the genre, how is the case of Espiral de Ilusão released by Criolo in 2017. To understand how this process is established, and is perceived by the audience, the work articulates a brief historic of the samba, as well as the artists of Brazilian RAP who established links with the genre, in order to present a case study about the production of meanings of the album on YouTube, observed from the audience conversations on the artist's channel. The conversations gathered from the platform demonstrate that, although there is a strangeness of the absence of RAP in the work, there is an exaltation of samba that seems to be linked both to its valuation in Brazil and to its similar traits to RAP, like markers such as territory, class, and raciality.
