Abstract

This article approaches the memorialistic and emotional processes articulated with the consumption practices of old video games -- essentially, consoles that were launched between the decades of 1970 to 1990. The results hereby presented are part of a broader research focused on the understanding of the relationships between memories, identity and consumption of video games in the Brazilian market. As a theoretical contribution, we have based this article on the contributions given by history and social psychology fields (Bosi, 2003; Legoff, 2000; Nora, 1993; Huyssen, 2014), as well as on the reflections that approach relationships between media, culture and memories (Nunes e Bin, 2018; Berger, 2015; Mello e Mastrocola, 2019). As an empirical object, we present a fieldwork done in one of the main gatherings of classic and old videogames in São Paulo, the Video Game Day, which took place in February 2020.
