This article expands on the experience of Peru regarding policies, plans and strategies to ensure access to drinking water for rural communities which, according to current regulations, are communities with less than 2,000 inhabitants. It explains in general terms the process followed for rural sanitation and the policy guidelines on sanitation from the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.
