Abstract

[Objective] The present study aimed at exploring the effect of single-and co-inoculation of microbes on rice yield and soil bacterial community. [Method] Pot experiment with rice plant was conducted with single-and co-inoculation of Rhodopseudomonas palustris and Bacillus subtilis. [Result] The application of the combined inoculations improved the rice yield with 17.71%.The application of microbial inoculations could effectively improve the soil enzyme activity. The 16 S rDNA amplified sequence analysis of soil bacteria showed that microbial inoculations showed limited effects on microbial diversity. However, the soil microbial community composition was significantly changed with the inoculations. Structural equation model showed that soil nitrogen significantly affected soil enzyme activity (r = 0.771,P<0.05) and rice yield (r = 0.448,P<0.05). Soil microbial community structures and α-diversity can indirectly affect rice yield by affecting the activities of microbial enzymes involved in soil carbon and phosphorus cycle. [Conclusion] This study provides an insight into the effectiveness of microbial fertilizer application in rice production and its effect on soil bacterial community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
